Notice of the European Patent Office concerning changes to the debt recovery procedure

The prices of publications, products and services are invoiced to clients, and colected by Treasury and Accounts Directorate's "accounts receivable" section.

To reduce administrative overheads, cut costs and comply with suggestions from our auditors, the EPO is updating its debt recovery procedure for the first time.

The following changes will take effect on 1 July 1999:

1. The number of reminders will be reduced to the customary commercial level

2. Serious breaches of our terms of payment will give rise to

2.1. rigorous recovery proceedings through the courts

2.2. discontinuation of deliveries until further notice, to limit our losses

2.3 future deliveries only against advance payment.
