For the purpose of the international search by the EPO as ISA the application must be written in one of its three official languages, English, French and German. Where the international application is filed in a different language the applicant must file with the receiving Office a translation into one of the three official languages of the EPO. Such translation must be furnished within one month of the date of receipt of the international application by the receiving Office.

The receiving Office will promptly forward a copy of the translation and of the PCT request to the EPO, referred to as the "search copy", after payment of the search fee.

In any further correspondence with the EPO as ISA the applicant may use any of the three official languages of the EPO (see point 54).
